Progress on Hydrants

As some of you know our “fire hydrants” cannot be used as hydrants if there was a house fire. This was a big concern of ours after learning that the community burned in the Marshall Fire also did not have hydrants. The issue is the main lines coming into the neighborhood are not large enough to handle the water demands of hydrants. Also, the pipe to each individual hydrant is undersized. Their original purpose was only to flush out the system after a break.

Working with Poudre Fire Authority [PFA] we found out that they are capable of filling their fire tanks with the hydrants. PFA is working with Spring Canyon Water District [SCWD] getting updated maps and labels for the hydrants.

We will continue to work with both PFA and SCWD to make sure the neighborhood has adequate water in case of an emergency. I will continue to post new developments as they come.
